In this issue, Dark Horse will chat with everyone about the small details behind the Japanese equipment sales ranking.
**Catching up with G09c, the Consistent Fastarc**
The top ten sales ranking for inverted rubber is as follows:
Rozena, T05, G-1, D05, Mark-V, Vega Europe, D09c, C-1, Glayzer, G09c

T05 and D05 have always been in a close competition, indirectly indicating that they are in a competitive relationship rather than D05 being an upgrade of T05. Of course, it is undeniable that there are more star players using D05 than T05.
However, there is a key factor that people may not have considered. Many of the developments in Butterfly blades are actually for the sake of rubber sales. In other words, some new Butterfly blades may not be suitable for Tenergy series rubbers, but require Dignics series rubbers to perform well.
Recently, Dark Horse has tried the flagship new product, Hellfire, from the brand Joola, and had a similar feeling. Initially, when using the “Little Yellow Man” (Innerforce Layer ZLC), it was quite challenging and the spin was average. But when paired with Viscaria, the effect was much better. The speed was sufficient and the bite was good. It can be speculated that when Joola develops new rubbers, the main consideration is the compatibility with their own blades, and among Joola’s mainstream blades, the focus is on outer layer blades. Therefore, if you put Hellfire on an inner layer blade, it may not be suitable, but it works much better on an outer layer blade.

For example, Butterfly D09c, when paired with the “Little Yellow Man” or the limited edition “Yoshimura”, feels a bit sluggish and not as effective as when paired with an outer layer blade. One possible reason is that when D09c was designed, it was mainly based on outer layer blades. Even if the compatibility with new inner layer blades is taken into account, blades like “Ovtcharov ALC” and “Super Zhang Jike” are similar to outer layer blades in terms of taste, being relatively rigid and supportive.
Similar to D09c, Glayzer 09c also needs to be paired with a blade with better support. If it is paired with a soft inner layer blade, it will feel even more powerless. Dark Horse’s evaluation of this rubber is average, not as cost-effective as Glazyer. However, the current consumption trend is “brand first”. Even if its actual performance is not outstanding, combined with Butterfly’s brand status and an acceptable price, recently G09c’s sales in Japan have caught up.

We are familiar with G-1 and C-1 from Nittaku. The feeling of biting the ball is really good. This Fastarc series (G-1, S-1, C-1, P-1) has been a bestseller for ten years. G-1 is suitable for both forehand and backhand, but it is not light. C-1 is really stable for the backhand.
What about Vega Europe in the 5th place? In China, some players think that Vega Asia, the red version, feels soft on the backhand, so it is even less recommended to consider the softer Vega Europe. The Vega series from Xiom was released in November 2009. In the early days, many people saw it as an affordable alternative to Tenergy. The control, spin, and speed of this Vega series are actually quite good, and it still offers good value for money. Although it may not have the same power and durability as the T series, it combines spin and speed well. Otherwise, why would it be one of the best-selling rubber series in the world?
**Straight Blades, Star Effects, and Single Plywood Mainstream**
The situation in Japan is different from that in China. Firstly, there are still many amateur players who prefer single-plywood blades. Therefore, among the top ten sales of straight blades, four are single-plywood blades. The rest are three named blades.
1st place: Victas Swat
The Swat series has been a bestseller in Japan for many years. On one hand, TSP/Victas, as a Japanese brand, has a wide audience and the price is relatively affordable. The pure wood seven-layer Swat blade has a versatile playstyle. Now that Ni Xia Lian is in a hot state, she has given powerful endorsements. In November, Victas will also release a signature model blade for Ni Xia Lian.

2nd place: Viscaria; 5th place: Viscaria Super ALC
Obviously, Zhang Jike’s influence is still lasting.
3rd place: Fan Zhendong ALC; 8th place: Fan Zhendong Super ZLC
It’s clear that this is the influence of the world’s number one “Little Fatty”.

It is worth noting that the above Butterfly blades are more suitable for players who use a looping playstyle on both sides. If you use a straight blade with a traditional style of pushing with the left hand and attacking with the right hand, or a pimple playstyle, it is better to consider Dark Horse’s new version of Heavy Mingniao, which is currently available for pre-sale at a special price. It is thick and versatile. (At the end, it is finally exposed that this is a “soft article”. )
(Special price during pre-sale) Upgraded version of Heavy Mingniao. Suitable for classic straight blade and horizontal blade playstyles of “pull and loop, then hit or attack”. Also satisfies the demand for a “soft and firm” playstyle with pimple rubbers.
